Five Love Languages in Marriage
Remember the giveaway I did back in May for this book?
Well, sadly - not doing another giveaway yet. But - since so many of you voted that your New Year's resolution was to improve your relationships I thought this would be a good place to start!
If you haven't read the book - do! Go out and buy it, or check it out at the library.
Here's a little taste of what it has to offer...
When I'm at the hospital in the next few weeks with my new baby the following will be my reading to help pass the time...
...if it's any good (which I'm sure it will be) - I'll be giving it away the beginning of February! Have you read either book? What did you think?

Giveaway: The Five Love Languages Book (closed)
After I graduated college I had (still have) a long list of books my professors recommended reading that I just didn't have time to read while I was in school. This book was on my short list. I'd heard so many great things about it!
My sweet husband gave it to me for Christmas and suggested we read it together...what!? I mean, I know he's great. But him, my left brained engineer husband, volunteer to read a "feelings" book with me!? Weird. But of course I was ecstatic! Since this is what I had intended to force him to do in the first place.
Let me just say...I. Love. This. Book. It's not often that I will recommend something so highly - but seriously, everyone needs to read this. It will change your marriage. Ry and I have always had a great marriage, but there is always room for improvement. And let me just say, it has improved!
We understand each other so much better now. It's amazing. So - if you think you're marriage is perfect, let me remind you that first - this is a *free* giveaway, so you've got nothing to lose. And second, nobody's marriage is perfect, so stop kidding yourself.
In fact, Ry (who also loved it) and I have decided to give this book as a wedding present from here on out...and I sure wish it wouldn't be awkward to give it to some couples I know who struggle understanding each others love language. Maybe doorbell ditching it would be appropriate. We'll see.
Anyway...I'm giving two lucky winners this book!
So here's what you need to do to enter to win...leave a comment. That's it. But, if you want to increase your chances of winning, for each of the following that you do (let me know in your comment what you've done) - your name will be entered again! Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura Schlessinger
It doesn't matter how perfect your marriage is - or how good a wife you are. You need to read this book at least once!! (or listen to the audio book because you drive a lot - like me) There is always room for improvement!I really agreed with...pretty much everything. I loved it. I think Ry & I have a great marriage, but it did help me to realize some things I could do as his wife to make it better. Way to go Dr. Laura - she hits the nail on the head time and again in this book.
I love how Dr. L isn't afraid to bring religion into the picture. Morals, values, the necessity of traditional marriage between a man and woman.
Need help with communication? Read this book!
Need help understanding where your husband is coming from? Read this book! Okay, I'll stop. I love this book.
Thanks Mel for the recommendation!!

Potty Training Your Baby by Katie Van Pelt
Loved, loved, loved this book. It is super short & a quick read. Not only does it cover potty training, but it has little tidbits of great advice on better parenting skills throughout. It covers potty training early, starting before the 1st birthday, and potty training late, after 2 years old. It is so informative.
I'm glad I purchased this instead of checking it out at the library because I will definitely be referring back to it time and time again! I highly recommend this book for all parents!!

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
The author, Randy Pausch, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, retiring from teaching, asked to give his 'last lecture' as all professors are - and then was told he had lost his fight and had only 3-6 months to live. What resulted was this book & an amazing lecture - he doesn't focus on dying and how to cope - it's all about how to live. Tidbits of wisdom that everyone can benefit from!
The story is truly touching - he was only in his 40's, father to 3 young children, and the legacy that he left for them is incredible.
I saw him interviewed on TV & part of his lecture given, and ever since I've wanted to read this book - thanks to my in-laws for giving it to us for Christmas!
A must read for everyone! Very uplifting, even though I did tear up a few times...
Favorite Quote: "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" - as quoted by Randy Pausch from Seneca, the Roman philosopher.
